Case Overview

Christi was seriously hurt with brain injuries, bladder injuries, and neck injuries after a poorly-trained tractor-trailer driver crashed into a line of cars. While these injuries have greatly impacted Christi’s life, we were able to resolve this case for 9 times the initial offer.

All the tactics, junk medicine, and hired gun doctors that evil insurance defense companies like to use came to life in Christi’s case. Stinson Law Group was able to win this case because we used the right strategy from the start. A strategy we learned from handling hundreds of cases like Christi’s and understanding the medicine and how to explain it to a jury.

Pushing Back Against Poor Training for Truck Drivers

This was a violent crash that would have been easily avoided by proper training of the truck/trailer driver. This case was a bit different than a normal “big truck” case because it was an asphalt company whose driver used an F-350 while hauling an 8,000-pound trailer with hot asphalt sealant.

But, like many “big truck” cases, the driver had not been properly trained. In fact, the training was about the worst we have seen in our long careers as tractor-trailer accident lawyers. The company driver had been given only one instruction in training: Do not brake too hard because it can damage equipment. Because of this, the driver was applying the brakes too cautiously, causing the crash.

Get the Maximum Compensation

We’ve recovered over $5,000,000 in tractor-trailer crash cases.

From lost wages to medical costs, the compensation in these cases is worth so much more than a check for our clients.

Addressing Our Client’s Needs

A unique issue we faced, in this case, was that while Christi was seriously injured and the emergency room confirmed she had a head injury, she did not know how to get follow-up care because of the complicated nature of her injuries. We helped her get to a good doctor who could manage her overall care. She saw a brain injury specialist, a bladder specialist, and a neuro-optometrist who was able to help with her vision problems caused by the brain injury.

Stinson Law’s Legal Strategy

For this case, we followed our thorough process to collect and analyze medical bills, investigate the crash, and spend time getting to know our client well. Getting to know Christi paid off in this case because the more we got to know her, the better we understood the difficulties she faced. This empowered us to be her best advocates and educate the defense attorney and insurance company on how badly she was hurt.

Challenges We Faced

The defense and even some doctors did not understand the nature of the specific type of brain injury Christi sustained or how it affects people, and this was a big hurdle we worked to overcome.

Results & Outcome

We were able to get a great victory for Christi by making strategic moves early in the case with evidence and by building a long list of negligent claims against the Defendant.

Through our experience and dedicated team, we secured a top-dollar settlement for Christi and her family. While the compensation amount remains confidential, the impact on Christi’s life is immeasurable.

As part of this case, we were also able to educate the asphalt company on how to operate more safely.

Conclusion

It is important to understand why industry safety standards exist, what they are, and how the driver and company violated them. Defendants and insurance companies continually belittle the same people they hurt with ridiculous claims and offers – often claiming the hurt person had the same problems before the crash despite no valid evidence. Defense companies and their lawyers are experts at hiring “junk experts” and using “junk science” to confuse the jury, and the risk of this is very real.

By hiring the Stinson Law Group team, which has access to expertise and knowledge specializing in brain injuries and truck/trailer accidents, this risk was defeated. We were honored to help Christi get the best possible outcome for her case.
